Polish Folk Dancing

Two weeks ago I had a pleasure of helping out in organizing a local Polish Folk Dance Festival. We had about 800 people that showed up. A lot of families and surprising amount of teenagers. Dancers had elaborate costumes from different regions of Poland. I wasn't expecting that big of variety. Being there for entire day I was able to see the dancers practice before the show started and I was able to talk to the group's choreographers. I have seen in past Polish Folk Dancers sometimes dance at the Polish Weddings. I think personally it is a really cool idea, especially that being aboard a lot of guests that are invited to Polish Weddings are not quite so Polish. It is exotic for those who are not familiar with Polish culture, it is entertaining and it is just plain fun!

Also, as I found out during my chatter with Polish Folk Dancers, it is not that expensive to have Polish Dancers come and dance at your wedding. If I would've known that earlier I would've probably had one of the local groups come and dance at my wedding but I just always assumed it is way over my budget. Apparently, it is usually anywhere between $200 - $500 to have the group come in. Often they dance to 3 or 4 traditional folk songs and leave soon after. I am sure they wouldn't mind taking pictures with the guests.  I have few local Polish Folk Dance Groups listed here on my recommended vendor list. You can contact them and I am sure they would be happy to help you. They use money that they make dancing at weddings towards trips or costumes.
